Upper Elementary Weekend Worship

Every weekend the 3rd through 5th graders will participate in a service designed just for them! This service is complete with interactive praise and worship, creative virtue videos, funny skits, crazy games, relevant Bible teaching and small group interaction. The service times are Saturday at 5:00pm, Sunday at 9:10am and 10:45am and the programming is identical.

By the time every 5th grader leaves our ministry we want them to know:

  1. “I need to make the wise choice.”
  2. “I can trust God no matter what.”
  3. “I should treat others the way that I want to be treated.”

We want every 3rd through 5th grader to know what God says so that they can make the wise choice. They need to know who God is so they can recognize His character. As 3rd through 5th graders apply this wisdom in their lives, we hope that they will begin to see God’s character in themselves.

Each month we focus on a Biblical Character Virtue to help the children take what they have learned at Pathway Church with them when they go home, to school, or  anywhere else. The kids are provided a definition for each months virtue to help it stick in their minds as well as a memory verse to help it penetrate their hearts. The Virtue is taught throughout the month by focusing on different Bible passages and stories that illustrate that virtue. This repetition through variety helps the message sink into the kids hearts and minds. The monthly Virtue gives parents a great starting point to initiate conversations with their children about faith and obedience.

Small Groups

In the Upper Elementary Ministry we place 3rd through 5th graders into small groups with a consistent Small Group Leader.  These groups will be made up of each grade and gender being the same for their respective small group. Your children will develop authentic relationships with their peers as well as their Small Group Leader. Your son or daughter will begin to understand what real community looks like and they can trust in their consistent Small Group Leader. Their Small Group Leader will be another guiding voice to help connect your children to Christ.

GodTime Sheets                   Click here to find them!

As another way to help children know what God says and who He is, we send a GodTime sheet home with each child every weekend.  It is also available online under "Upcoming Events".  There are four different devotions on each GodTime sheet.  Each devotion is designed to be done on a different day.  The first one (labeled "Read Me First") can be done on the way home or soon thereafter.  "Day 1" is designed to be done next, and so forth.

Each day's devotion includes:
1.  a verse(s) to read
2.  a paragraph that teaches something about God & an explanation of today's verse(s)
3.  an activity that makes real-life application of the day's devotion
4.  a suggested prayer.

Parent Cue

This monthly sheet can be found under the 'Resources' page.  It communicates 4 things to parents:

  1. the month's virtue (or the week's faith skill)
  2. the month's memory verse
  3. the week's Bible story
  4. a specific question(s) for parents to ask their child and talk about.
